Novum Canal is a growing regional online media channel
Design Approach
With a local and regional focus, Novum is dedicated to ensuring the community's right to information and is located in the north of Portugal. This channel offers live broadcasts and news coverage to the regional community. When I was invited to join as the Lead Designer, my initial challenge was to analyze the issues with the old website, which struggled with poor performance and high bounce rates despite a commendable traffic of 90k visitors per day.
I conducted an analytics consultancy and analysis and found that the existing website was built on a relatively weak structure. In response, I proposed a comprehensive website revamp and redesign to enhance its UI/UX, improve performance, and make it more competitive. I developed a modern, user-friendly interface with an always-present live mode, which led to record reductions in bounce rates and increased traffic. These improvements significantly boosted the channel's financial revenue.
Logo Animation
The logo animation was designed to add dynamism to the website, serving both as a visual enhancer and as an entrance separator for video clips and broadcasts.
Always present "Live" feature
The always-present Live feature allows users to view real-time events, similar to major network channels. This feature not only maintained high public traffic but also significantly increased user engagement.
New user interface and experience
All graphic elements were meticulously designed to align perfectly with the brand and its identity. The entire interface was redesigned to deliver a more immersive and engaging user experience for their target audience.
Desktop and Mobile
Both desktop and mobile experiences are designed to bring users closer to the news channel. Additionally, the channel has invested in more resources to enhance their reporters expertise and improve project, team and business management.

This new strategy and redesign initiative has been highly successful in increasing online sales. It has not only led to a significant rise in traffic but has also generated numerous new business opportunities.
