INTRODUCTION
Digital portal for all SUP enthusiasts
I designed a SUP Portal that aims and aspires to be the largest and most comprehensive SUP resource in Portugal, guiding users and SUP enthusiasts to utilize it daily for planning their next vacations or SUP adventures. The portal provides up-to-date information on the best spots, events, and schools, ensuring a seamless experience for both beginners and seasoned paddlers.
The simple logo harmoniously combines black typography with a green symbol. The three vertical green waves subtly form the shape of Portugal, symbolizing how SUP can be enjoyed both inland and along the coast. "Portugal by SUP" aims to inspire people to explore the country's beautiful rivers, lagoons and beaches, while stand-up paddling.
Search SUP Spots
I designed an interface that allows users to search for SUP spots by name or browse a list of locations, updated monthly. This involved frontend implementation using a customized / redesigned plugin.
Search by location
It enables users to find the closest SUP spots using their current location or select from a curated list of locations.
SUP Guide and Sustainability
The interface also includes a comprehensive guide to SUP schools, serving as a portal to all SUP schools in Portugal. Additionally, it features "GREENSUP," a section dedicated to encouraging SUP enthusiasts to be more environmentally responsible. This includes promoting sustainability in SUP and plogging, which involves picking up trash during excursions in nature.
A Portal & Online Store
Additionally, the online store features an extensive range of brands and offers, including exclusive brand representations and products, making it a one-stop-shop for all SUP-related needs.
CONCLUSION
From a simple web-app to a to a portal
Approach and Mission
This project was designed to start small and expand significantly over time. Initially, the portal will operate as a web app, with plans to later evolve into a native mobile app. Revenue streams will come from advertising, sponsorships, and a subscription model for submitting new SUP spots.
The popularity of stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) has soared worldwide in recent years, including in Portugal. This portal is dedicated to all SUP enthusiasts who seek to immerse themselves in nature, whether it's for a gentle river excursion or an adventurous surf session on the beach, catching some of Europe's best waves.
